Happy Birthday Barbaro!
Let's honor your special day by taking the immediate action that is crucial. Let's celebrate by making these phone lines light up brightly!
The Humane Society of The United States posted an urgent request this morning:
"Today is the National Call-In Day for Horses, in honor of
Barbaro's birthday! Time is running out for Congress to pass the
American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (H.R. 503/S. 311) to end the transport to slaughter of American horses to Mexico and Canada.
"Let's light up the phones on Capitol Hill to send the message
loud and clear that we want a permanent ban on horse slaughter now.
Here's How To Help!
"When you call, you will speak to a staff member who will pass
your message along to your legislator. Remember to be polite and professional, and leave your name and address so it is clear
that you are a constituent.
You can say:
"Hello, my name is [your name] and I'm calling from [your town]
to urge [legislator's name] to co-sponsor the American Horse
Slaughter Prevention Act, H.R. 503/S. 311, to end the transport
to slaughter of American horses. We must end this cruel practice once and for all. Thank you."
"2. We are tracking the impact of your calls, so click here: Let us know you called your legislators:
"3. Finally, please tell all of your friends and family to call today and throughout this week.
"Your calls have made a difference in the past, so please make
the call today. Together, we can stop horse slaughter.
Sincerely,
Wayne Pacelle
President & CEO
The Humane Society of the United States"

Even though today is a very busy day forme, I will make time to make these calls.
I absolutely called that idiot Larry Craig. How can one man hold up the will of the people? It just amazes me! Fortunately both of my senators are co-sponsors
Two of my reps are sponsors and are supporting the bills.
Senator Mel Martinez is non- committal. I cannot understand why he refuses to take a stand, either way. His staff has no idea in which direction he is going. I say when one is riding a horse one does best by facing the direction in which the horse is going. Does that give folks an idea about Senator Martinez's leadership?
Thank goodness Rep. Mica and Senator Nelson are voting in favor of these bills.

Hugs! ~RC`
I've just posted some info for anyone interested or involved in horse racing in the horse racing folder database titled: Thoroughbred Horseman's Group - Winds of Change post is # 22823.1 Should be of some interest. Jo thanks for posting and I've made my calls as ever!!! I'd write and tell ya but my e-mail isn't cooperating today again!!
I called Senator Craig and emailed my own Senator. I get so many e-mails telling me exactly what to do regarding the Horse Slaughter Bill, so they make it very easy for me!! :>)
I just LOVED the cartoon sketch of Senator Craig in a "Stall" - The National Horse Protection League sent it out. Too funny-- he most definitely deserves it!!!!
Happy Birthday Beautiful Barbaro,
Cheryl
