Dog Days of Summer Upon Us Already

According to the calendar, Summer remains 9 days away, but here in Central Florida it already feels like the "dog days".

And since they say that a picture is worth more than a thousand words, it must be that Karma the Pit Bull, the lead weather reporting canine is preparing for the evening forecast to be aired on her local television station, tonight. Her agent, Laurentha is very proud of her.

I think that our pets make excellent barometers, don't you? Leave a comment with your input, but no commercials, please!

It is very hot already. My dogs go outside to do their business and when they come back in the house after only a few minutes, they are panting like crazy. It seems I am filling water bowls constantly as they are drinking a lot too. They know it is summertime even if the calender does not.

I live up north close to Canada right on Lake Erie. But even the lake has not kept the temperature down. It has been hot enough to use the central air in the house. I keep the temperature at 74 and no humidity.
Dogs run out do their business and head right back in the house. The cats also seem to enjoy it being cooler in the house.
But I can't wait for it to cool down enough to open windows and doors for fresh breezes to bloww through the house.

I'm in North Carolina, and it's been near or over 100 degrees all this week! YIKES! On Memorial Day I was wishing that it was Labor Day instead, so the hot and humid NC summer would be on its way out.

I've lived here since 1957...my daddy wasn't thinking right when he brought a northern gal to the deep south! (I was born in Mansfield, Ohio, and we summered on Lake Erie when I was young.)

It's been around 100 degrees here in North NJ and I am starting to wish my golden retrievers used a litter box like the kitties! When I take them for a midday walk I am out and back in as fast as possible. I am NOT a heat loving person. You can only take off so much in the way of clothing at my age!

Great picture! That dog has the right idea....just lay down with the belly exposed...and cool it!

I have all indoor cats, and they are really enjoying life. I am the one who has to go to town to get their supplies while they get to stay in where it's cool! LOL If I can come back someday through reincarnation, I would like to come back as one of my cats!

We've been very hot here in SC, too. 100+ a few days and still in the 90s! Feels like a cold wave now! Our humidity is high all summer and even into early Fall. I'm ready for winter already!

Our pets are excellent barometers indeed. With the wild weather of the Midwest lately, we have surely seen this.

I just wish we had a bed big enough to share with all our pets, who seem to become lap-pets when the wind blows too hard. ;-)

Thanks for praying . . . I am hoping for improvement soon. (Reading and typing with one eye is quite tricky. Plus, my horses surely want me to ride them!)

Blessings,
L
