Silent Sunday on Frequently Feline
So with no further amew, let me share it with you.
But if you listen carefully there is faint "oriental" music in the background. Maybe my association was purely unconscious? What do you think? Leave a comment and let me know.

Not So SILENT Sunday! Meet the Lergnom Dog

I generally am not a superstitious person, but I highly subscribe to the theory that there are "no accidents". Things happen for a reason, if we take the time to quiet ourselves and allow our thoughts to just flow.. often an answer will come to us.
Some of you may know that I was a contracted blogger for Animal Hubbub on AOL for almost a year. The site basically has shut down for now, but I still receive comments from folks who continue to visit the site. Animal Hubbub is still a presence on the Internet, although no new material has been published.
This morning I received a lovely comment about an Andalusion Stallion article that I had written, last December. The comment contained a link to what the commentor claimed to be his website. Being curious, but cautious, I googled it manually. I am so glad I followed my heart.
OK, I am a Jamaicaphile. If I could afford to live there, I would move in a heartbeat. I am completely enchanted by the Island, its residents and the whole culture. Whenever I have visited, I feel just like I have come home. I always enjoy good Reggae music.. it touches my soul somehow. Maybe I was a citizen of the Country in a previous lifetime.

So what does this have to do with animals? I had to search for news about pets in Jamaica as I felt I was on a journey. This comment did not just randomly arrive in my mailbox.
Did you know that Jamaica has a competitive dogsled team? The team, named Sun Dogs practice off the Island in areas that have snow, but most of their training is done on regular ground.
The team are passionate competitors! The dogs that compete are mostly an exotic breed called Lergnom. Guess what? That is Mongrel spelled backwards. Known for their strength, hardiness and survival skills - the Lergnom of Jamaica has proven to be perfectly suited for international dogsledding. A Jamaican Lergnom can and does live under some of the toughest conditions. The Jamaicans believe that their native dogs and cats too have adopted the Jamaican psyche of surviving under tough conditions.
If you are drawn to Jamaica I have two special treats for you this morning. Watch this fascinating video by BlingRhames, and visit The Bob Marley Website. When the music stops refresh the page and you will be able to hear more of Bob Marley's fabulous music.
From the sun-kissed beaches of Jamaica and tropical paradise comes a story of second chances.
Rescued from the mean streets and animal shelters, 12 stray dogs are trained to the stars of Jamaica's first dog sled racing team.
Were you surprised to learn about the Jamaican Dog Sled team, and did you enjoy the concert? Leave a comment to let us know.

Silent Sunday: Do You Speak Feline?
Hush Puppy and Trouble discover a Cat instruction guide.
Cats frequently chatter between themselves about intriguing objects. I often am curious about their thoughts and opinions. It just takes a lot of patience and intuitive skills to translate a feline discussion.
Obviously these two kitties in the video below, are involved in a major discussion about something that has caught their eye. TheCatsPyjaaaamas gives us the purrfect opportunity to eaves drop on a serious conversation between two cats.
We are all very interested in your translation of the conversation between these two "chatty cats". Leave a comment and share with us.

Silent Sunday: Montage Chevaux
Mattie: My "cyber" sponsored horse rescued from the kill pen.
It makes absolutely no difference which language is our native tongue. All horse lovers can connect through the deep love we share and the powerful emotions we often feel when we are in the presence of these magnificent animals.
I would like to share this magical video, "Montage Chevaux", by juju57 as a gift for enjoyment. I am positive that you will be touched by the beautiful photographs and enchanting music.

Silent Sunday on Frequently Feline: Happy Mare's Day!
Mother's Day, is a special day we set aside to honor our moms.
In the spirit of Mother's Day, I chose this very special "mom", Callie, rescued from the slaughter pen. It is not only the sick and elderly that are sent to slaughter. Just like Callie, many are young and healthy horses in desperate need of homes.
This very lucky mare had a weanling at her side and was pregnant with the foal featured in this touching video from ksbg195.
Let's thank the "horse moms" who lovingly rescued these horses in order to give them a second chance for a meaningful and happy life, by leaving a comment for them.
Happy Mother's Day!

Silent Sunday: Honoring Barbaro
I still believe in love at first sight. I am sure I am not only an incurable romantic when it comes to my love for animals, but I succumbed to the magic that Barbaro, the much beloved race horse exuded the moment he flew over the finish line, winning the 132nd Run for The Roses, the 2006 Kentucky Derby, by 6 1/2 lengths. His win was the biggest victory margin in a Derby since 1946.
I am a passionate horse lover but not as avid a Horse Racing fan as many of my friends, but the triple crown races, (Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes) always find me glued to my TV. Barbaro's grace, strength and magnificent athletic talent captured my heart. My love affair with him began on May 6,2006. He continues to remain embedded in my heart as well in all the hearts of his fans throughout the world.
While all Thoroughbred's birthdays are recorded as January 1, the beloved race horse, Barbaro's actual birthday is April 29. So in celebration of his life, and to highlight the contributions he continues to make through the efforts of the FOB's (Fans of Barbaro) to help all horses in need, I will be posting entries about him throughout the upcoming week.
Share with us, by leaving a comment, your thoughts about Barbaro and how he continues to have an impact on your spirit.

Silent Sunday on Frequently Feline: Meet Mario
If I didn't know better, I would think that someone cloned our white Oriental Shorthair, Trouble. When I ran across this cute video created by Creepymonsterboy, I did a double trouble take, and immediately fell in love with Mario.
I do wonder what may be causing Mario's deafness however, as Oriental Shorthairs do not have the same genetic makeup that predisposes them to deafness, even though frequently blue-eyed white cats are deaf.
Enjoy the video and marvel at our how much our cats really resemble each other. Don't you agree? Leave a comment after you wipe your eyes!

Silent Sunday: Kitty and Catnip, 35 Second Party
There is nothing more enticing to most cats than a high quality fresh catnip.
Trouble, our White Oriental Shorthair obviously is delighting in the effects of this feline version of "whacky weed".
Do your cats enjoy a taste of catnip? How do they respond to it? Leave a comment and let us know!

Silent Sunday: Simon, the RagaMuffin
Simon and Bubby, two RagaMuffin cats, who own Chris, were hanging out on her husband cluttered desk when all of a sudden, Simon discovered the shadow of the ceiling fan. Talk about chasing windmills!
Simon just had to have a "go" with the fan monster.
The RagaMuffin breed make wonderful pets. Intelligent, inquisitve and playful, they are devoted to their humans and also delight in charming visitors.

Silent Sunday: Protect Our Horses!
Bam: Kim's beloved Quarter Horse
Kim loves horses and supports the Americans Against Horse Slaughter movement.
Please take a moment to watch "Anthem", a moving video created by phutc7274. While some of the images are disturbing to watch, the reality of the cruelty of horse slaughter is presented with candor and honesty.
Thanks, Pamie for creating this video.

Silent Sunday: Lion the Lover
This heart warming video uploaded to YouTube by elawwalani, is an incredible tribute to the love and trust that is possible between a lion and his keeper
After being rescued six years ago by his keeper, this African lion is enjoying life, safely residing in a sanctuary in Cali, Columbia.
I am sure that you will be as deeply moved as I was.
