Summer Olympic Games: Culinary Customs Hard to Swallow.

While I look forward to the Summer Olympics, at the same time I am having difficulty understanding why the Chinese and other Asian countries serve dog meat.

All Summer Game contracted hotels and restaurants have been ordered to withdraw dog meat from their menus to avoid upset and protests from those particpants and visitors who find the practice odious.

And while I mean no disrespect to Chinese culinary customs, there is something about serving up a canine companion that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

How do you feel about the temporary ban on dog meat during the Summer Games? Leave a comment and share.

I can't understand either why they are eating dog meat. It seems barbaric to me.

It also seems kind of unethical to ban dog meat during the Olympic Games, since they know it will offend folks from other countries. If that is one of their regular foods, folks will know that they will just go back to serving it after the games are over.

Quite upsetting to me for sure.

I can't understand why they have to eat dog meat (horse too)...these animals are meant to be human companions..NOT a food source -- ban it forever in my book.

Seems to me that banning dog meat during the Olympics just endorses eating dog meat at any other time. Why is it ever OK??

Personally, I wouldn't walk across the street to go to China for FREE! But that's just me. I abhor their human rights practices (or lack of them), and I do not eat Chinese food...PERIOD!
