I have no idea how it was done. My guess is that it just happened and someone was able to take a picture of it. It is a wonderful shot. The animals' expressions are so "cat."
LOL, knowing how cats love to be IN things and HIGH, they probably love it!
Simple, behind those boxes they have all their tails tied together!! LOL!! Duh!!
I could try six hours a day, seven days a week and never get a shot like this. How lucky can you get?

Methinks there is some Photoshopping going on here. The stack of boxes doesn't really look stable enough to have all those cats in it - one move and it could collapse.
I suspect they took one photo of the stack then idividual ones of each of the cats in the different coloured boxes and combined them using Photoshop layers.
