While Sand Cranes are not ususally considered "pets" in the traditional way of thinking, this beauty seems to enjoy hanging out near our pharmacy very often. I do hope no one is feeding him. He is not at all shy, and loved posing for this photograph. I don't know much about these birds but is it common for them to bond with humans?
Since his demeanor seemed so unique, I had to bestow upon him the honor of Pet of the Week for this magnificent bird.
Would someone please be kind enough to give him a name in comments?

Welp, I'd vote for "George"...as in "Curious George". He certainly is beautiful. Occasionally I have a Blue Heron in the pond out back...first time I saw him I thought I was hallucinating! It's amazing to watch the speed when they fish.
